Positions Available

Engineer Intern (Civil Engineering) – Under close supervision, the Engineer Intern will assist with design and inspection assignments related to bridges, highways and other transportation-related structures by performing basic engineering calculations and other routine engineering related tasks within transportation design. In addition, the intern will assist with plan reviews, cost estimates, and report preparations.  Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is preferred as well as familiarization of ODOT design standards and policies.

 This position may include both office and field assignments:

  • Performing basic engineering calculations
  • Design of roadway alignments based on ODOT and FHWA criteria
  • Organizing information for use in drawings and other documents
  • Manage work assignment for CAD technician and other support staff
  • Assisting other engineers in various tasks and duties
  • Use of computer-aided drafting software (CIV3D)

CAD/Engineering  Tech (Civil Engineering)-  Great opportunity with local civil engineering firm for individual with a minimum of five years AutoCAD/MicroStation experience. Civil 3D experience is a plus. Design skills should include all aspects of civil design with emphasis on transportation projects. Candidate shall have the ability to work independently and in a group setting, resulting in the preparation of quality documents that consistently meet design standards. Knowledge of transportation design and terminology as well as ODOT standards and design policies is beneficial.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide CAD/design support for engineering projects and shall be responsible for the preparation of civil engineering plans using Civil 3D.

Safety Bridge Inspector (Tulsa)- Great opportunity with local civil engineering firm for an individual with two or more years of safety bridge inspection experience. Inspect bridges, structures and structural elements under the guidance of a senior bridge inspector according to federal, professional and Agency standards to document condition, and identify potential deficiencies for maintenance improvement and/or repair. Transcribe field notes and drawings to appropriate forms; review, compile and submit reports that reflect structure condition. Report potential causes of deterioration and damage. Update structure inventory database. This position will require field work , walking over rough terrain, and some travel.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in safety bridge inspection and repair methods. Working knowledge of safety bridge inspection methods and procedures; routine bridge maintenance and repair procedures, the deterioration characteristics of steel, timber, and concrete; common bridge types and bridge nomenclature; CAD drafting techniques; and algebra, and geometry. Computer skills including MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Pontis Bridge Management Software, and Microstation/AutoCAD. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; perform manual labor in connection with safety bridge inspection tasks; diagnose the causes of deterioration and damage. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret road and bridge plans, sketches, manuals, and agency guidelines; prepare and draft sketches of bridges and structures; perform data entry into Pontis. Ability to climb and perform physically demanding work during adverse weather conditions, at great heights, in confined spaces, and in close proximity to traffic. Ability to prepare detailed written inspection reports . Minimum education of high school diploma with course work in algebra, geometry, CAD drafting and basic computer skills or training and/or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the expected duties. NHI safety bridge inspection certification is preferred but not required.

Transportation Engineer– Fast-paced engineering firm needs civil engineer experienced in ODOT work. Ten to 12 yr design and project management experience required. The firm works in Civ3D and Micro-station. Good benefits and a great work environment.
