Ottawa County and GUY Engineering celebrated the completion of Bridge #18 over Fourmile Creek on December 13 with a rainy-day ribbon cutting.
The old Bridge #18 was a 20ft concrete slab span with four 11’-8” concrete arch spans. It was built in 1920 and was structurally deficient. In addition, with a load rating of only four tons and a sufficiency rating of 14.8, it was not safe for school bus travel.
The replacement bridge consists of three 34ft precast concrete arch spans. It was designed by Guy Engineering Services of Tulsa, OK and constructed by Crossland Construction. Funding for this project was provided through the County Improvements for Roads and Bridges state fund.
