The City of Okmulgee and GUY Engineering hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of Bridges #6 and #7 over Okmulgee Creek on February 26. The bridges are located on Muskogee Ave north of 3rd St.
The old Bridge #6 was built in 1929, while Bridge #7 was built in 1940. Both bridges were structurally deficient. They have been replaced by PC beam bridges designed by Guy Engineering Services of Tulsa, OK and constructed by Paradigm Construction. The $1.1 million project also included reconstruction of Muskogee Ave between 1st St and 5th St. Muskogee Ave was closed to traffic during the construction.
Funding for this project was provided through a combination of local funds and Surface Transportation Program (federal funding).
