Chief Paul Pitts ribbon cutting

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on September 5, 2013 at Bridge #175 over Birch Creek on Chief Paul Pitts Road in Osage County.

The project, which is in commissioner Bob Jackson’s district, was designed by Guy Engineering Services in Tulsa, consisted of approximately 11 miles of asphalt overlay, straightening the road near the low water crossing. The project also included building three new bridges, one to replace an existing structurally deficient bridge and the other two replaced the low water crossing. The new bridges are two Reinforced Concrete Boxes and a 3-Span Pre-Stressed Concrete Beam bridge.

Construction of this project was funded ($4.9 million) by the Osage Nation. Chief Paul Pitts Road is on the Osage Nation’s road inventory. Osage County paid for engineering, right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation costs.

The project was completed August 2013 in coordination with Osage County, Osage Nation and the contractor Becco Contractors, Inc.
