Bridge #145 over Tributary to Horse Creek
This project replaced a 2 – 20ft concrete span bridge, as well as 1/10th mile of approach roadway. The new bridge is a single 90ft PC span, 26ft clear roadway with approach slabs.
The bridge is located in a mapped floodplain within the town of Afton over a tributary to Horse Creek. Because of its location in a floodplain, this bridge was of special concern to local citizens. Therefore, the bridge design and hydraulics were specifically engineered to have no adverse effect on the floodplain. In addition, the new bridge is close to existing sewage collection lines and manholes, so the project required coordinating with the town for sanitary sewer relocation.
