SH-20 over Spavinaw Creek
This project replaced an existing 3-span bridge with a 3-span PC beam bridge (Type III Beams) (70ft-70ft-70ft) with a minimum 44ft clear roadway. The approach roadway has 2-12ft lanes with 10ft shoulders.
Replacing the bridge necessitated realigning SH-20 over a distance of approximately 1,000ft. The new alignment facilitates future improvement of the alignment to the west.
The new bridge is located just north of the existing bridge. A portion of the new alignment was constructed while maintaining traffic on a partial shoofly and on the existing bridge.
The project is located just southwest of the City of Spavinaw. A primary objective was to avoid affecting three large City of Tulsa water lines carrying water from Spavinaw Lake to the metro area.
